“Baba ke”, as he is fondly called, was among our new members who collected brand new Bibles a few weeks ago after we distributed 11 brand new Bibles. He had a torn and very old Bible and he and another elderly man requested big-lettered Bibles. His Bible came a bit late (2 weeks after others collected). It was a big drain on my pocket.
I asked them to start reading the first epistle of John, being one of the easiest to understand for anyone new to the Bible, and promised to teach them on the topic of “love” later.
Last Sunday, after the service, I went to see him because he didn’t come to Church. I met him reading Numbers 20, and he followed the service on the loudspeaker. He told me he started from Genesis and promised to finish the whole Bible before the year’s end. I couldn’t close my mouth! After just 2 weeks.
A few days ago, I went to see him again and pray for him( He has an underlying sickness), and he is already reading the Book of Joshua. I was so surprised and happy, and decided to take his picture. He was even telling me that if not, he is not so well, he would have gone further, but still promised me he would finish the whole Bible by the end of December. Now I believe him totally.
He made me glad and has challenged those who will not read their Bible.
“Baba ke” prayed for years to God to send someone to come and build a church in his village.
God showed me the same vision 3 times on a memorable night about this village, and I went to the village to talk about having a crusade and tell them the crusade would birth a church. Come and see people dancing that a church will come to their village.
In December 2023, we had a crusade with an average of 65 people over 2 days. 2 people came out to give their lives to Jesus.
Jan 2024, The church was planted, and we have only had a weekly service for many months
Sept 2024, on the day of the first Sunday service in the built church, “Baba key gave a wonderful testimony.” In his words,
He wrote down the date the church was planted, the date the church building foundation was laid, the date it was roofed, and the date of the first Sunday service, and he was happy that finally his prayers were answered and he could worship in the Church while alive
He will not take for granted the grace of God as many others will do. Say a word of prayer for “Baba ke.”
